In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Jealousy is a difficult one...
And thanks to social media, we get to see a lot of the beauty and successes in the life of others. I mean to be jealous of someone’s trials when we have not finished facing ours. May Allah ﷻ save us!
Maybe it is your besty making a difference and being recognized for it or your not-so-bright classmate now a rich influencer or that woman who seems to have all that you want - a doting spouse, beautiful children and a travel job...
It can be too much to be honest.
You just need to be true to you. Acknowledge that you are feeling this way. Jealousy is just a feeling until you act on it. Jealousy brought about the curse of Shaytan and also the first murder on earth (the children of Adam (AS)) and let us not get started on the brothers of Yusuf (AS).
It is good if your jealousy makes you push yourself beyond your comfort and maybe you surpass your Ramadhan goals in the last ten days. However, if your jealousy makes you wish evil on someone or just messes even a little with your mental health and those thoughts and inner monologues start coming, then you need to do something.
Unfollow someone maybe?
And make du'a.
In fact! Make du’a anyway...
because du’a will surely take you somewhere better, where jealousy cannot.
