And One More Thing #18: Friends
Ramadān Reflection
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
A lot of people I have met on here have become such a blessing in my life. I remember meeting so many of you for the first time. We have gone on to collaborate and form bonds and ties and we have studied together and grown and prayed for each other and laughed and cried and celebrated and we have shared.
And when I think of how it all started, a like here, a DM there. Then there was one who was interested in some diy bookmarks I made (still cant believe she offered to buy them! 😅) Then the ones who showed up at my work place. Then the one who showed up in my hotel room, if you had seen us you wouldnt believe we were meeting for the first time. Then the one who showed up twice during her lunch break cause I was in town. Then the one who took me round Lagos for great book deals. Then all those who we have bonded over food and books too. And the ones who I have never met but have sent me gifts and books and very delicious snacks too across lands and seas to Nigeria and we all know how crazy shipping costs can be. Alhamdulillah! Barakallahu Feekum!
It is always exciting to meet friends. Alhamdulillah. And if you have virtual friends who have now become like family, you will know what I am talking about.
Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah " and then remained on a right course - the angels will descend upon them, [saying], "Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised. We [angels] were your friends in worldly life and [are so] in the Hereafter. And you will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you request [or wish]. [Qur'an 41: 30-31]
How blessed to have angels for friends! Like real angels. They are our friends here like our virtual friends but we will get to totally 'hang' in the Hereafter.
May Allah make us among His righteous servants.
Now go ahead and make dua for some of your friends or virtual besties or those who you cannot wait to meet or those who you want to 'hang' with in Jannah In Sha'a Allah.
