And One More Thing #20: Family
Ramadān Reflection
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Family is a very important unit. Now more than ever, we see how much we need each other.
Whether it is your parents sending you food or groceries irrespective of your age or the aunty who sent gift for the kids or the friends of your parents who check in on you following the loss of your parents, we are grateful for them.
We have had to cook more, clean more often and even surprised ourselves by playing. We have fought and we have made up and above all we are grateful. Alhamdulillah!
However, no matter how much our family loves us, they cannot save us on the Day of judgement.
The son of Prophet Nuh (AS) was not saved from the flood. The wife of Prophet Lut (AS) was not saved either and the wife of the tyrant Fir'awn despite having a lofty house on earth, sought one near Allah in the Hereafter.
So stand up in prayer yourself, give charity from what you have also, and fast. Your father's zakat doesn't cover your own wealth.
May Allah grant us and our families Jannah. Amin.
