In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficient, the Most Merciful
As Muslims, we have two major celebrations in a year. They are the two eids. And they are a big deal.
And sometimes you don’t “feel” it the way others seem to.
It is not until you arrive at the prayer place that you realize, you didn’t even think about henna. Or maybe you didn’t remember to get new clothes or even make those cute cupcakes with the eid toppers or set up the house with balloons and decor.
Or you have so much anxiety about the “familyness” that comes with eid. It is aunties reminding you of the fact that you are not married yet or some weird joke about your body or how your children stick out because you are a screen-free family.
Or dreading the work that comes with visitors and the meat and food and it all just seems like a lot of weight on your shoulders.
You recognize that it is eid but you are not feeling the joy that is supposed to come with it. It is a joyous blessed day. But where do you find this joy?
Find a glimmer of light!
Could be the realization of an answered du’a or a special person in your life or a group of people, or go to that special place in your mind and stay there.
Then hold on to that feeling. And say in awe of the Controller of Hearts.
Alhamdulillah!
Eid Mubarak Lovely.
