In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
وَأَمّا مَن خافَ مَقامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفسَ عَنِ الهَوىٰ ٤٠ فَإِنَّ الجَنَّةَ هِىَ المَأوىٰ ٤١
But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination, Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.[Qur’an 79:40-41]
He fears the standing before Allah. He fears Allah's judgement of him. He prevents his soul from following its desires, and he compels it to obey its Master. We are either slaves to our nafs or to Allah ﷻ. We can't have two masters.
Taqwa includes refraining ones self from base desires and if you think about it that is what Ramadan is about. No eating, drinking, intimacy from dawn to dusk and these are not necessarily haram. I mean, with intercourse, there are conditions. Then there are those other things we decide we need to give up for the sake of Allah in Ramadhān that He has even made haram, like gossiping, etc. The idea is not to pick up right where we left off after Ramadhān. May Allah ﷻ make us better and allow us to meet next Ramadhān better than we met this one. May the lessons we learnt stay with us and May we be among those who remember Him much. May we be admitted into Jannah without account. Amin.
And that brings us to the end of the series. To all those who followed and read and shared and replied and engaged in whatever way, may Allah ﷻ accept from you and to all those who joined me live after Fajr everyday to share their own reflections, may Allah ﷻ accept from you and count you among those who were in the circle of light and remembered Him. Amin.
Final offer to purchase this at the discounted rate as reverts to full price in just a little bit. To help you keep building the habit of tadabbur beyond Ramadhān.
I prepared a small guidebook for anyone who wants to make tadabbur one small part of their day. It has one ayah from each juz, some notes from various tafasir (all referenced), and personal reflection questions. Allow the Qur'an transform you.
